Things are pretty crazy around here! Just the right time to start a blog, right? 🙂
First, let me introduce myself: I’m Margaret Horak, and I’m interested in a lot of things. I have a husband, Ray, and adult kids, Kristin, Brenna and Barrett. I also have a cat named Carl, and 4 (as of now) chickens who lay way more eggs than we could ever use. If you’re lucky enough to be around when we have a surplus of eggs, you’ll be sent home with a dozen!
We have 5 grandkids: Breanna, Nash, Gabby, Indie and Saaya (aka: Trinity), who all live far away. So we get to travel to see them!
I’m retired from contractor work. I worked with a team of contractors for 18 years, writing courses for Microsoft. It was a lot of fun. I learned a lot, and met a bunch of nice folks along the way. I miss the work sometimes.
Now that I’m retired, I can work on what I really love, and that’s watercolor paintings. I love to paint, teach, show and talk about watercolor! I guess you could say it is my passion. I’ll be posting some paintings on this page, and stories behind them.
We also love to travel, where I can paint whatever I please. Yeah, it’s a tough life, but somebody’s go to do it. Am I Right?!
I’ll try to post every couple of days or so, about what’s happening in my life.
Join us for Wine and Watercolor Wednesdays! We are restarting classes on October 16th, 2019 at 5:30-7:30. I provide the tools and materials you need to create your own personal masterpiece! All you have to do is bring $20, which includes a beverage of your choice, and be ready for a fun and creative evening.
You can sign up in Ristretto, or let Margaret know you’re coming by emailing her here: MargHorak@yahoo.com
While at Ristretto, check out my revolving art show, too! It changes occasionally. While you are enjoying your beverages and treats, see if you can tell what’s new!
I also have an art show, up until the end of September 2019. Pave is open regular business hours, and Janie Dodge, the owner is there.
Please join me in October for two art exhibits showing simultaneously, at Pave Jewelers and The Lincoln Theatre! Pave Jewelers is hosting my show in conjunction with the Mount Vernon Downtown Association’s First Thursday Art Walk. The first Thursday is October 1st, 5-8P, and my show there will be an all Hawaiian theme. Come by and see if you can guess where the subject of each painting is located.
The Lincoln Theatre is showing a different set of artwork. There will be some from our recent trip to Spain (Barcelona and Madrid), a few from Hawaii, and more from our lovely, local Skagit area.
